Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Transformation & Planning is a key member in transforming our Retail organization. In this role, you will manage the expenses, capital, and financial outcomes of the retail organization. In addition, you will be key as we centralize and create efficiencies in a 300+ person organization. As the Senior Manager, Transformation & Planning you will own the strategy and implementation of our transformation efforts. You will leverage yours strong ability to influence without authority to build streamlined narratives that support and influence decision-makers while being outstanding at managing the transformation from A to Z.

To be successful, you will need to leverage active listening to clearly understand pain points, or points within the Merchandising organization where there is significant variability, to innovative and centralize processes that benefit the majority. You will need to have an idea of how to create a change story to help navigate the complexity of change management as you lead the broader team through implementation and on to execution. In this role, building a strong network of fast, trusted, and credible relationships within Merchandising, Finance, Digital, Analytics, Marketing and Supply Chain will be the unlock for creating measurable change that impacts both our colleagues and our consumers in a favorable way.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Models multi-year financial outcomes

  • Plans and manages the use of expenses and capital

  • Identifies new areas of opportunity to invest

  • Leads our change to centralize investment decisions

  • Builds and evaluates business cases to select key projects and investments that align to our strategy

  • Establishing a clear, prioritized activity roadmap that successfully delivers the company’s ambitions, including changes in products, policies and/or processes across our ecosystem with appropriate collaboration across multiple stakeholders.

  • Proficiency working with data to develop measure and metrics that yield actionable insights to business owners, & lead/conduct/ support first-level analyses to identify underlying drivers of trends

  • Drives efficiency and effective planning processes by implementing and upholding a project management discipline across boundaries

  • Assigns appropriate timelines and accountabilities for items, empowering the team to drive action steps to completion.

  • Influences at all levels – up to and including cross-functional SVPs. Champions innovation by bringing ideas to own VP & SVP as well as broader Merchandising Leadership in an agile way, while balancing growth with financial risk & incremental cost to organization

Evolution and Maintenance of Processes/Procedures

  • Building new processes to innovate our working model

  • Creates checks and balances to maintain processes and ensure outcomes including meeting expense and capital budgets

  • Processes ad hoc as the needs of the business change

Stakeholder Influence and Change Management

  • Leverages data, insights, and analytics to influence stakeholders and makes recommendations as appropriate

  • Fully embraces organizational improvement initiatives, acting as a change agent with one’s own team and peers and partners

  • Looks for ways to break through implementation barriers rather than be impeded by them.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitating collaboration between different departments to promote a cohesive and integrated approach to achieving organizational goals.

  • Leverages a results-oriented mindset, using metrics to monitor improvements

Culture Talent Development

  • Leadership: Providing guidance, direction, & support to teams and departments to ensure smooth operations & optimal performance

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in Finance, Planning or building financial models

  • 8+ years of demonstrated successful leadership experience in a highly competitive environment. Relevant sectors include retail, finance, consulting, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

  • 8+ years’ track record influencing others with & without authority

  • 8+ years’ experience understanding and breaking down highly complex situations to deliver impactful solutions in real time.

  • 8+ years’ experience effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills; very strong interpersonal and presentation skills

  • 8+ years’ experience in merchandising environment, or in other like external business models

  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities

  • Travel - Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, 10-25% of time, based on needs of the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in the above

  • 5+ years’ experience demonstrating ability to lead a large team & manage million-dollar business unit to achieve financial/business results

  • 5+ years’ experience collaborating effectively across different business functions, perspectives, and styles of leadership

  • Business development and/or Consulting experience

  • Advanced degree

Education

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $182,549.40

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
