Position SummaryThe Senior Manager, Merchandising Operations – Strategic Projects will lead development and execution of data-driven strategies to improve business performance. Working closely with Merchandising leadership, this is an opportunity to drive productivity, profitability, and consistency across the Enterprise. You will have vast exposure to key decision-makers at multiple levels of Leadership across the organization. Through thorough root-cause analysis of Customer frustration and Colleague challenges you will develop and implement programs and processes that synchronize multiple workstreams, initiatives, metrics, and other components into one, cohesive, seamless operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Thought Leadership:

  • Forecasting and designing process improvements on our write-off and markdown processes used by all merchants and enable highly visible savings.

  • Define and implement intervention plans to address pain points and close gaps across multiple business plans and projects.

  • Establish working relationships and gain support across all levels and functions within the enterprise from Analysts and Managers through Directors and Senior Directors to Vice Presidents and Executive Leadership.

  • Counsel leadership on continuous improvement and transformation strategies, tactics, and performance.

  • Innovate:

  • Inspire time and resource savings through well documented and broadcasted best practices spurred by 'white space' opportunity identification.

  • Standardize Ways of Working across the enterprise: develop guidelines and standard operating procedures to ensure merchandising strategies are executed flawlessly.

  • Implement processes that support CVS Health Customer-Centric initiatives by applying the appropriate tools to complex business challenges.

  • Analytical Mindset:

  • Enact a customer-first perspective to the work designed and implemented

  • Map the end-to-end Value Stream, pinpointing data capture and reporting needs to identify opportunities that positively impact up-stream and down-stream partners.

  • Employ a 'Test and Learn' mindset through discovery of the problem, design of the solution at scale and deployment of a pilot before determining if/when to scale.

  • Drive Results:

  • Drive productivity by eliminating wasteful practices and unnecessary costs, creating a seamless experience for Customers and Colleagues across CVS Health.

  • Push sustainable progress by designing and executing operational consistency programs across the entire value chain.

  • Support key innovation and transformation initiatives, enable merchandising operational execution by creating simplicity in the face of complex business issues.

  • Ability to conceptualize complex quantitative analysis and build analytical models using Microsoft Excel and other tools/platforms (e.g., Tableau) (or if limited prior experience – quickly learn to be an expert in Excel)

  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing via Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with Merchandising Directors & other stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work priorities.

Required Qualifications3+ years in Change Management, Retail Category Management, CPG, Project Management, or Vendor Management.Preferred Qualifications

Experience with change management methodologies, with understanding of individual and organizational psychological factors and insights.

Merchandise familiarity - understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., Category Management), and merchandising organizational structures and processes.

Mastery of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience with technical tools, such as: Tableau, IRI Unify, Numerator, SQL Assistant, VBA, Python, SAP, SAP BI, Teradata, Palantir Foundry, Oracle are a plus, but not required.

Education

MBA completed or in-process.

Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline

with information technology focus.

Project Management, Six Sigma and/or Lean certification is desirable.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,200.00 - $174,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
