CVS Health Software Developer Engineer - Backend in Woonsocket, Rhode Island

Position Summary:The Senior Software Engineer - Backend is primarily responsible for crafting, developing, and coding solutions to meet customer expectations and specifications as discussed and detailed in Epics, Features, and Stories (SAFe Agile process). Expertise and input into designs and technology solutions will facilitate accurate decision-making and mitigate development and implementation risks.

Work Breakdown Structure:

In this role, you will be spending 70% of time developing and deploying Spring Boot APIs/Microservices in a Hybrid cloud environment. You will be mentoring/guiding team members 10% of time. For remaining 20%, you will be involved in various Agile Ceremonies like Sprint planning, Feature Refinement, and grooming in collaboration with other stakeholders from Product, Design etc.

Key Stakeholders that the individual in this role will interact with daily:

  • Partners from Product, Design, and Voice of Customer (also referred as CEM).

KPIs for the role:

  • The applicant will understand the system development life cycle, Agile software project management approaches, and requirements, design, and test techniques.

  • The individual will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the health of the applications/APIs owned by the team i.e. ‘Build-Ship-Own model’ which means responsible for development, production release and ensuring the health of the system

  • This person will conceptualize and influence application and interface projects, and therefore should understand what advice to give and where to plug in to steer toward desirable outcomes.

  • The applicant should be experienced or conversant in emerging ideas in backend application development.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of overall IT/Digital development experience

  • 3+ years of experience developing microservices and cloud-native applications/microservices using Spring Boot.

  • 2+ years of experience with agile development required SAFe Agile experience preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience with any cloud would be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A track record of writing clean, high-quality, high-performing, scalable code.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with optimization skills to improve performance, scalability, and usability of our applications.

  • Good presentation and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working with distributed systems.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good understanding and working experience in IT Security best practices and other compliance standards such as ADA, HIPAA, PCI DSS.

  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
