Position Summary

The Senior Engineer, Software Development & Engineering is responsible for driving the development for the modernization of our Supplemental Benefits platforms. The platform is aiming to enable a modern, integrated, frictionless experience for our OTC Benefit members and clients. You will work closely with architects, product owners, and technology leaders to build out the new Supplemental Benefits application, along with improving aspects of our software delivery process. You will also provide leadership updates and help make technology decisions impacting our overall healthcare strategy.

In this role, you will leverage your significant engineering experience to partner with other consumer focused delivery teams and build out new capabilities that expose data from this domain. You will have accountability and oversight in driving solutions from idea to implementation, by providing engineering leadership and oversight to other solution engineers who are intimately familiar with the application architecture within this specific domain. This includes having strong ability to look around the corner at emerging technologies and advise the team around the strategic technical vision for the platform.

You’ll play a key role in the application engineering, application design reviews, identify gaps in capabilities our business requires, and recommend design changes. You will actively participate in the engineering community to drive modernization opportunities for the advancement of healthcare technology while keeping in mind the complexities of our IT landscape. You’ll also maintain excellent code quality and standards as new capabilities are delivered. Lastly, you will play a key role in furthering the modernization journey for Retail Technology team, in alignment with the Enterprise strategy.

Open to candidates working in hybrid model from our Corporate office location in RI or can work remote anywhere in the US

Accountabilities include

  • Work with other engineers, scrum masters, and product owners in planning, prioritizing, and performing assigned tasks within deadlines

  • Working with architects and other technical leads to align on standards and best practices for cloud native architecture, engineering, and automation

  • Create engineering roadmaps and developing POC’s which will advance the team towards engineering goals

  • Make informed technical decisions quickly and take end-to-end ownership of applications

  • Lead and participate in design and code reviews, making opinionated suggestions on how to continuously improve our standards and delivery capabilities

  • Be responsible for building a strong engineering culture of improvement and automation within the team

  • Be an advocate for and implementer of security best practices

    Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional IT experience

  • 5 + years of hands on experience in java

  • 2+ years of experience in Angular

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-native databases, Postgres, Mongo DB and relational databases like mySQL

  • 2+ years of experience with developing API’s including enabling observability and monitoring of database API’s.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Mentor other software engineers at varying levels to expand their capabilities for growth within the organization

  • Experience working with partners with peers from across business and technology to drive outcomes

  • Understanding of cloud application design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers (GCP or Azure preferred) to deliver large-scale distributed solutions across the full enterprise stack

  • Experience facilitating adoption of cloud-native/cloud-first architecture

  • SME level technical skills in the following areas: backend application and integration architecture, security and automation along with a working knowledge of IT operations

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience delivery quality software at scale

  • Experience building cloud native platforms in a green field environment or modernizing brown field platforms in an enterprise setting

  • Thought leadership & excellent communication skills

  • Deep collaboration skills and ability to work as a team player seeking alignment and able to influence outcomes

Education

Bachelor degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience(HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
