Position Summary

This position follows a hybrid working schedule of three days onsite per week and two days remote in one of the following locations: Woonsocket, RI, Hartford, CT, Irving, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, or Northbrook, IL

As Associate Legal Counsel – Marketing, you will provide legal advice and counsel to business partners throughout the Pharmacy & Consumer Wellness marketing department with respect to various marketing campaigns and initiatives, including content review of editorial articles, digital and print assets, ad placements and search terms, and media strategy. You will play a key role in identifying and proposing solutions to legal risks, and will be responsible for reviewing marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will collaborate with colleagues across the company, including Marketing, Privacy, Digital, Clinical, Corporate Communications, Compliance and Government Affairs.

You will develop a deep understanding of business goals and take an active role in driving projects to a final result. You will make an impact by:

  • Advising internal clients on legal matters related to marketing campaigns, initiatives and media strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations concerning advertising, digital, and consumer protection;

  • Providing legal review and approval of consumer-facing marketing content advertising Pharmacy & Consumer products and services across a range of channels (e.g., paid media, social media, app, search, digital display, email, etc.);

  • Demonstrating a deep understanding of applicable federal and state consumer protection laws and regulations relevant to marketing activities involving loyalty programs, paid subscription services, endorsements and testimonials, dietary supplements, health products, social media and influencers;

  • Undertaking legal research and monitoring developments in marketing and advertising law to proactively advise internal stakeholders on emerging risks and opportunities relevant to new Pharmacy & Consumer Wellness marketing initiatives and media strategies;

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders and senior attorneys in identifying opportunities to optimize and streamline review processes;

  • Advancing marketing compliance tools such as training, policies and procedures, best practice guides, and disclaimer database tools.

  • Providing legal and regulatory guidance for marketing campaigns and content review, ensuring all advertising complies with laws and regulations including FTC regulations

  • Providing legal counsel for new marketing initiatives, such as search, content articles, and digital enhancements.

  • Collaborating on legal trainings, guides, and tools for the marketing team to incorporate legal guidance all aspects of their initiatives.

  • Managing regulatory research for consumer protection and advertising topics, ensuring the business incorporates such guidance for their platforms and assets.

  • Advance technology and process enhancements in collaboration with marketing team to ensure a streamlined legal marketing review and disclaimer database.

In order to be successful in this role you must exhibit the following:

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related legal experience

  • Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited institution required; Bar admission in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aspects of Marketing, Digital, Retail and or/healthcare legal experience

  • Experience as an in-house counsel

Education Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited institution required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
