American Tower Manager, Cybersecurity Operations in Woburn, Massachusetts

The Team

We are seeking a Manager, Cybersecurity Operations to join American Tower’s Information Security team. The team protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems in our core systems and platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working in a security and/or network operations environments, with a track record of effectively leading teams and driving operational excellence. This role requires a highly analytical and data-driven individual who excels at performance management and thrives in a fast-paced, constantly evolving cybersecurity landscape. This is a tactical role, leading incident response teams and a Security Operations Center. Day to day you will observe all the security operations occurring across our networks and respond to events and alerts as they are detected. You will also guide your team in staying proactive and anticipating threats, ensuring we remain ahead of the evolving threat landscape by detecting and mitigating potential risks before they materialize.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

  • At least 5 years’ experience building and leading high performing operational teams in complex environments.

  • At least 10 years of experience in operational, cyber, or IT roles, with progressively increasing responsibilities.

  • Proficiency in utilizing incident and event monitoring tools, including effectively leveraging key performance indicators to produce comprehensive reports and analyses.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

  • Sound judgment, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service, and business integrity.

  • Approximately 10% travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities.

  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for yourself and a team to meet requirements and deadlines.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to achieve results effectively and professionally.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate a team to achieve results.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Provide strategic direction and tactical leadership to the team, ensuring efficient and effective execution of cybersecurity operations.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Center, including incident detection, response, resolution, threat hunting, and vulnerability management.

  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, runbooks, and best practices to optimize the team’s performance and enhance the company’s overall security posture.

  • Utilize data-driven insights and metrics to continuously assess and improve the team’s performance.

  • Create reports on the performance of information security based on the findings of analyses and correlation of information security events.

  • Analyze and correlate cyber security events to determine the best course of action for managing them.

  • Lead by example and mentor the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and innovation.

  • Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and proactively recommend and implement defensive measures to mitigate risks.

  • Evaluate the efficacies of the measures compared to the security risk management strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and compliance, to ensure security initiatives align with business objectives.

  • Operationalize future Information Security implementations with guidance from the Director of Global Security Operations.

  • Manage risk remediation tools and protocols to ensure issues are mitigated, risks are accounted for, and exceptions are tracked in accordance with the company’s frameworks, policies, and standards.
