Pharmacy Purchasing Technician

Novant Health is seeking a Pharmacy Purchasing Technician, to join our pharmacy team, to ensure medications are available for our patients across all dimensions of care, every time.

Essential functions include:

  • Purchasing: Inventories to par levels; reorder drugs from drug wholesaler or manufacturer.

  • Stocking: Place inventory on shelves or appropriate storage area. Ensures unit does barcoding is in place and operable.

  • Financial: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and to maintain quality of drugs purchased; collaborate with Director/Manager. Follows defined procedures for receiving drugs and processes invoices in a timely manner. Maintains documentation, drug ordering, transfers, purchasing, and communicates to department leader.

  • Charge Management: Process interdepartmental charges; receive drugs and supplies, compare amount received to amount ordered.

  • Compliance: Assist with regulatory compliance and professional standards; lead inventory related special projects.

  • Evaluation: Act as part of the Novant Health System Procurement team by monitoring, researching, managing, and reporting drug shortages to department and corporate leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.

  • Experience: Two years pharmacy technician relevant experience, required.

  • Licensure/Certification:

  • Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy, required.

  • PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, required.

  • 340B University Education Program completion (or within 90 days of hire), required.

  • Additional skills required:

  • State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

  • Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.

  • Additional skills required: Auditing skills, accounting skills, microsoft office skills.
