Job Summary
Responsible for chart abstraction and data entry for the Trauma Center. Performs data abstraction and collection from the electronic medical record, data entry into the trauma database, and statistical data reporting of all trauma patients. Works collaboratively with Trauma Service staff to maintain efficient data reporting, support performance improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance with trauma standards.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - HIM, RHIT, Coding, preferred. NH Trauma Centers Only: AIS Coding Course within 12 months of hire required.
Experience: One year Trauma Registry or other health related experience such as: LPN, EMT, CNA, RHIT, or Medical Coder, preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
NH Trauma Centers Only: Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAAISS) Certification within 3 years of hire, required.
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR), preferred.
Registered Health Information Certification (RHIT), preferred.
Any of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder Certification (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), preferred.
Additional Skills (required):
Medical terminology
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Basic data entry and computer skills
Ability to work in a team setting
Additional Skills (preferred):
Knowledge of AIS Injury coding
Knowledge of ICD10 coding
Previous use of EPIC electronic medical record system
