Cargill Research and Development Senior Supervisor - Alternative Protein in Wichita, Kansas

Job Purpose and Impact

The Research and Development Senior Supervisor, Alternative Protein will provide technical contributions and thought leadership to the product development of meat analogs and actively lead the identification and execution of market led and customer focused product development for meat analogs. In this role, you will provide leadership to a team of scientists to execute innovation goals and ensure technical excellence. You will partner with the team to advise on the strategy and prioritization of a portfolio of near term growth and future innovation projects and drive research and development decisions for new product development, product improvements and goals supporting business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply scientific knowledge to contribute to product development that effectively supports the creation of customer solutions.

  • Ensure alignment of business growth and innovation strategy plans across cross functional teams to create consistencies, efficiencies, and prioritization.

  • Implement innovation roadmap market plan(s) aligned to the business strategy, including short and long-term testing programs for experimental and commercial products.

  • Serve as an operational and tactical enabler to develop processes to support compliance with intellectual property, food regulations and company policies.

  • Provide technical leadership in product and process development to within and outside of functional area.

  • Champion and coordinate scientific innovation initiatives that drive and support growth across the organization through collaborating with internal and external partners to identify emerging trends that meet strategic objectives

  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Experience conducting work in a pilot plant or food manufacturing environment

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or Ph.D. in a science related field

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience

  • Six or more years professional experience in ingredient functionality and alternative protein product development.

  • Prior experience in meat processing, alternative meat processing or experience formulating with functional ingredients such as plant proteins or texturizers

  • Experience partnering with customers, vendors and other external partners

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with evolving business-critical technology
