Cargill Business Manager - Value Added Pet in Wichita, Kansas

Job Purpose and Impact

In North America, Cargill produces fresh, frozen, and cooked beef, turkey, pork, chicken, and egg offerings, along with sauces, soups, case-ready products, pet treats, and by-products for retail, foodservice, and food ingredient customers. As a customer-driven organization, it’s focused on delivering protein solutions that offer distinct value to help its customers grow. In addition, product quality, employee safety, food safety, animal wellbeing, environmental impact, improved sustainability, and community engagement are of great importance. Protein – North America is comprised of a diverse 28,000-member team and operates approximately 60 protein facilities, distribution centers, feed mills, hatcheries, and an innovation center in the U.S. and Canada, in addition to maintaining international sales offices.

The Business Manager – Value Added Pet , as a subject matter expert, will design and implement a comprehensive product marketing cycle. We seek a multi-faceted professional to identify market potential, establish pricing, and market strategies, estimate potential sales, define promotional activities, and handle products through phase-out.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare and coordinate product introductions and updates.

  • Compile and evaluate research on market product requirements and identify enhancements to current features and functionality.

  • Coordinate program planning with customers to identify manufacturing schedules, goals, design criteria, costs, and similar considerations.

  • Plan, organize and coordinate assigned programs to accomplish financial and budgetary goals.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of six years of Marketing, Sales, Operations, R&D or FP&A work experience

  • Financial analysis skills – ability to analyze financial performance to drive profitability

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze processes to significantly improve business performance and profitability

  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous environments and utilize active inquiry skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated effective commercial problem solving and decision making

  • Understanding of pet food industry/market/sales channels

  • P&L management experience

  • Pet Food industry experience

  • Experience developing and leading the strategy for product lines/brands
