Middlesex Savings Payment Systems Supervisor in Westborough, Massachusetts

Overview

The Payment Systems Department is responsible for several of the Bank's critical functions (including but not limited to processing ACH and Wire Transfer files). The Payment Systems Supervisor is a key role focused on ensuring these high-risk transactions are processed accurately and timely, while mitigating the inherent risks. The Payment Systems Supervisor is expected to maintain proficiency in regulatory compliance and industry developments. Serves as a subject matter expert in these areas and is highly skilled in resolving complex system and customer issues. Provides internal support to Bank personnel as needed. Plans, organizes and supervises the daily functions and activities of the Payment Systems team. Provides input towards the development and implementation of new products and services in order to achieve department, division, and Bank goals and objectives. Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates sufficient coverage of critical functions to ensure all department tasks are completed in accordance with established deadlines and service levels.

  • Ensures prompt problem resolution to internal and external customer inquiries. Ensures staff does same.

  • Acts as liaison with vendors to resolve system issues timely to avoid disruption in critical file processing.

  • Provides ongoing coaching, training, and development. Monitors team’s progress in completing their goals and provides guidance when necessary. Conducts periodic performance evaluations and participates in the hiring, promotion and termination recommendation process.

  • Participates in projects involving system upgrades and enhancements within the department. Assigns adequate resources for testing, ensures team is adequately trained and departmental procedures are updated as needed.

  • Maintains proficiency in regulatory compliance and industry developments; apprises staff. Recommends procedural changes to support prescribed requirements. Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.

  • Ensure staff receives adequate training to perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with regulations, laws, and applicable industry rules resulting in minimal audit and/or exam findings.

  • Assists with compiling requested documentation for internal and external audits and examinations. Participate in any meetings and/or follow up requests throughout duration of engagement. Assist in implementing any remediation items resulting from the audit.

  • Conduct testing and assign resources to support Bank’s annual Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity testing.

  • Assists Financial Fraud Analysis Department in researching transactions related to fraud investigations.

  • Completes monthly reports capturing individual and department statistics.

  • Identifies, recommends and implements process improvements and ways to increase efficiencies.

  • Creates training plan for new department hires.

  • Ensures department records are maintained according to the Bank’s Record Retention Schedule.

  • Refers sales opportunities to other departments or bank affiliates in support of established objectives.

  • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required

Work Experience

  • 5+ years relevant operations/electronic banking experience is required

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess at least intermediate knowledge of wire transfer and ACH processing.

  • Knowledge of other payment systems networks desirable.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Sound judgement and appropriate sense of urgency.

  • Strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail required.

  • Able to use various types of office equipment including personal computer and peripheral devices.

  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Must have scheduling flexibility.

Licenses and Certifications

  • NACHA AAP and/or APRP accreditation Preferred
