Reporting to the Director of Payroll and Student Employment, the Payroll Specialist ensures all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely in accordance with University policies and procedures You are: Knowledgeable in payroll best practices and knowledge of federal and state tax regulations a plus A multi-tasker who thrives working in a very dynamic environment Someone with excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with various levels of management A detail-oriented individual who is able to adhere to tight deadlines with excellent organizational skills You will: Perform necessary data entry in payroll software including employee tax information, direct deposit information, calculating and entering employee garnishments/child support orders, and enter voluntary/involuntary deductions as required Execute time sheets and attendance processing and interface with payroll software including ensuring time sheets are complete with appropriate approvals, assisting employees and supervisors with time keeping questions & training, and maintaining and updating time keeping software Review and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings and ensure that all changes to payroll are processed accurately Process manual checks and reissue checks as needed Complete retroactive pay calculations and process payment Complete verifications of employment You need: Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting or related field A minimum of two years of experience in payroll or accounting Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred Experience working with payroll software preferred, experience with Banner software a plus Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential What's In It for You: Health & Welfare Programs: Employees and their eligible family members, including spouses and dependent are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Programs.
