The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in mechanical engineering. The expected starting date is as early as January 2025. The department comprises 9 full-time tenured/tenure track faculty, including 5 in mechanical engineering. The BSME and MSME degree programs have enrollments of about 110 and 90, respectively, while the PhD in Engineering and Applied Science program has 12 students. You will: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses and conduct independent and collaborative research. Candidates with interest in active and experiential learning will be considered favorably. Service to advance the Department, wider University community, and professional organizations is expected. Applications are strongly encouraged from candidates with expertise and interest in establishing research programs in predictive manufacturing, including, but not limited to, AI-based models for analyzing data and decision-making in manufacturing processes, and digital twins to enable virtual fabrication floors for optimizing and accelerating manufacturing platforms. You need: PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the date of appointment with previous research experience in advanced manufacturing. Interests in data science with expertise in additive manufacturing is desirable. Must have a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Must be strongly committed to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, advising, and laboratory skills development. Prior experience in teaching at a university is desirable. Previous industrial or postdoctoral experience will be viewed favorably. Must be collegial and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
