CVS Health Senior Data Scientist - Retail in Wellesley, Massachusetts

Job Description

The Senior Data Scientist will provide critical subject matter expertise and creativity in building analytic solutions to enable our organization with the ability to explore, discover, and diagnose emerging trends and leading indicators.The role will work closely with the Business and A&BC colleagues to build data models, conduct A/B testing, outlier detection, data storytelling using BI tools and statistical models.Senior Data Scientist will possess:• Retail domain knowledge and experience to generate customized, actionable insights in a data-driven and deadline-oriented environment.• Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools, quantitative skills, problem solving skills and experience with statistical programming languages (R, Python).• Expertise with SnowSQL/data mining, data wrangling and transformation, building data models , engineering KPIs, maintain data documentation and definitions. • Ability to continuously search for and apply new innovative technology and ways to source, design, aggregate, and utilize data in conceptualizing, designing, and building self-service analytics and reporting tools for our business partners.• Ability to act as an analytics product owner translating business needs into analytics projects and actions.• Understanding key drivers of business value and being able to translate into business opportunities and frame them as analytical problems.• Experience conducting analyses, ranging from descriptive ad-hoc to in-depth investigations of healthcare utilization trends/outcomes and prepare data summarization for review by leadership team and key stakeholders.• Construct and deliver written reports of analytic findings in a variety of formats (reports, PPT, including visualization of data and findings), formulate recommendations, and effectively present results to stakeholders.• Experience coordinating regularly with technical teams (Analytics, Data Engineering, IT) as well as non-technical business stakeholders and senior leadership.• Experience applying software engineering best practices like version control (Git) and continuous integration to the analytics code base.• Create analytics solutions that effectively weigh business and technical tradeoffs using an intermediate understanding of business strategy as well as relevant big data environment topics.• Strong data storytelling and BI Skills in tools like Tableau, ThoughtSpot.• Excellent communication and presentation skills .• Be able to see projects through from inception to production with strong project management skills. • Experience working with a wide range of problem domains, with a particular focus on timeseries forecasting, mathematical optimization, clustering, and classification.Hybrid work model would include coming onsite approximately 4-8x/month in Woonsocket, RI; Irving, TX; NYC; Chicago, IL; Harford, CT or Wellesley, MA.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum: 75,000

Maximum: 167,000

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact. • 5 years of experience programming in Python.• 5 years of SQL programming, with intermediate to advanced SQL programming abilities.• 5 years of experience building and utilizing a robust experimentation framework (e.g., A/B testing) to measure performance of deployed models.• 5 years of experience in BI data visualization in Tableau/Power • Experience building machine learning and/or optimization models• Experience with cloud distributed-computing platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS, Snowflake, etc.), including querying/mining large datasets and deploying projects on cloud systems.• Experience with Git for version control.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with project management tools is a plus.• Retail Industry experience.• Excellent communication skills. • Ability to communicate technical concepts and implications effectively to non-technical business partners.• High energy and a sense of urgency to deliver results, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & meet deadlines.• Capability to anticipate and prevent project roadblocks before they occur.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related discipline.Master’s degree preferred
