CVS Health is recruiting for an AVP Brand Strategy. The AVP of Brand Strategy will play a key strategic role in managing and activating the brand strategy for the CVS Health brand and multi-business unit Marketing activities. Specifically, this leader will outline the multi-year go to market strategy for the CVS Health brand. This leader will be a unique and important blend of strategic thinking and analytical skills to outline strategies with measurement impact and the right level of creativity to bring those to life with impactful and consistent positioning and brand activation work.

Teams reporting into his leader include the Enterprise Consumer Value team that drives cross-sell Marketing activity to deepen customer relationships across multiple business units, the Brand Strategy and Identify practice that drives the overall Brand Architecture for the house of brands that fall within the CVS Health portfolio, the Brand Activation team that takes point on large Marketing efforts designed to tell the story of connectivity across the enterprise, and the Brand Strategy team, responsible for outlining and refreshing the multi-year brand priorities for the enterprise. All this work requires tremendous partnership and coordination with the business unit brand and marketing teams.

Likely distribution of key responsibilities:

  • Strategic plan development and ongoing management

  • Brand campaign activations

  • Data driven enterprise cross-sell Marketing

  • Brand management and creative articulation of distinctive brand elements

  • Partner and influence business, digital, other marketing partners, etc. on bringing forward the brand personality consistently

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 10+ years of strategic Marketing experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead analytical and creative functions.

  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop talent for a team of 20+ Passion for strategic and creative problem solving.

  • Strong collaboration skills with ability to impact and influence individuals at senior levels – both internally and externally

  • Agency management experience that successfully demonstrates a one team mindset between internal and external agencies

  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proven strategic marketing leadership : The ideal candidate will have significant experience developing and leading highly visible, multi-channel marketing strategies. Specific experience with developing targeting strategies, optimizing channel mix, advancing CRM and Martech strategies, unlocking unique insights, and developing messaging prioritization to drive customer first business outcomes is valuable. This executive will have deep experience developing marketing ideas, nurturing breakthrough creative, leveraging new media innovations, and driving performance optimization.

Visionary change agent : The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking visionary who will advance CVS’s programs to gain market leadership by shaping their design. This executive will be a vocal advocate for and lead change, in both marketing and the larger business. This leader will also always have staunch knowledge of customer and market dynamics to advocate for customer first approaches to growth. The ability to manage through ambiguity and complexity to take calculated risks to solve problems, forge new paths for growth, and achieve challenging goals will be critical. He or she will demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness when faced with challenges and obstacles.

Engaging & Inspirational leader : The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading large teams and developing talent. This leader will need to execute a talent strategy that ensures engagement, retention, succession plans and capabilities needed for the future while instilling a sense of energy and excitement and pride in our purpose in colleagues on the team.

Robust analytical skills to quantify the value of brand : Deep analytical and critical thinking skills to ask the right questions about where our brand is strong, where opportunities exist, and what behaviors and actions we can/should take as an organization that will have meaningful impact on advancing the brand. In partnership with the insights and analytics team, outlining the most effective way to measure performance is imperative.

Strong strategic business orientation : The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strategic business leadership, identifying, quantifying, and pursuing new opportunities. This executive will have a high comfort with analytics and using them to make strategic business arguments. In addition, they will bring an entrepreneurial attitude and approach.

Strong executive presence and communication skills : this executive will be capable of influencing and driving collaboration at all levels within the organization. Proven ability to influence key stakeholders. Proven ability to drive meaningful change and innovation.

Collaborative Thought Partner : The ideal candidate will have high emotional intelligence and an exceptional ability to collaborate and partner with other business teams and executives. Specific experience with operating across Merchandising, Operations, Analytics, and Digital teams is valuable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Some management consulting background and/or experience is helpful in this role because a critical piece of success is impacting and influencing the business unit teams across the organization on the power of brand to differentially compete.

  • B2C and B2B Marketing experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$157,800.00 - $363,936.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
