Job Purpose and Impact

The Software Engineering Center of Excellence Director will provide thought leadership, strategic direction, deep technical expertise and broad connectivity and oversight across a variety of engineering areas to continue maturing the practice and skills to build the foundation for modern engineering practices for Cargill’s Digital Technology and Data organization. In this role, you will lead the team empowered to develop and drive processes, tools and standards that support our transformation to product, build cross team relationships and collaborate across the entire engineering community to drive an effective and authentic engineering culture and maximize the effectiveness of the engineering capabilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic direction, technical leadership and influence in the development and adoption of SDLC processes and infrastructure as code practices for multiple engineering teams across the DT&D organization to further maturing engineering practices.

  • Set the strategy and framework that will drive the DT&D transformation to a product model, including establishing product model operating guardrails, Product/Agile coaching practices, product toolkits and identifying cultural changes needed for success.

  • Develop strategic relationships with the engineering community and foster innovative technical trends, modern skills and promote software engineering best practices.

  • Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for direct reports and their organizations, which include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Provide leadership to grow team capabilities, drive team goals and prioritize team resources in alignment with business requirements.

  • Influence the engineering community to ensure teams constantly learn and apply new trends and technology to handle business problems.
