Job Summary

The Millstone Design Engineering department is seeking a Supervisor of Nuclear Design Engineering. This position will lead one of three (3) Engineering groups responsible for the design and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and I&C upgrades for the station. Reports to the Millstone Design Engineering Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing the modification projects at the station, including infrastructure, systems, mechanical, electrical equipment, and control system upgrades.

Work with team to design a long-term schedule for station component and structural upgrades at Millstone and identify the required resources to support the goals of these projects. Support the Project Managers to ensure that barriers to success are eliminated obtaining support from successively higher levels of management as necessary. Includes providing support with presentations at the Plant Health Steering Committee meetings, Challenge Boards, Design Reviews, Executive Risk Review Boards and Project Funding Review Board meetings. Work with Supervisors of Site Nuclear Engineering, Millstone, to ensure fleet commonality and leverage best practices and OE. Monitor the site Long Range Plan (LRP) to ensure Mechanical and Structural projects are integrated into the existing station plan for modifications (routine and outage-related). Interface with the O&P manager and fleet counter parts to ensure that projects are implemented within the overall fleet outage strategy.

Interface with the Supervisors/Managers of Outage & Planning, Maintenance, Nuclear Site Services, Operations; and Training to ensure alignment with Station goals and to work through various project challenges. Interface with the Millstone Design Engineering manager, to solicit design engineering and SME support for these projects. Support the project managers in determining the appropriate Project Scope of Work (PSOW) approvals (as required) and project team participation from key stakeholders. Interface with the Supervisor of Project Controls to assure understanding of responsibilities and expectations for project cost control to support the PSOW. Provide oversight of project activities to identify needed corrective actions pertaining to Electrical and I&C projects. Oversee and direct augmented staff contract employees as required. Provide oversight of project managers to ensure adherence to the GaRDs and Procedures, as well as other project expectations. Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of power plant operations

7+ years of engineering experience of which at least 1 year shall be nuclear power plant experience (commercial, military, shipyard). On-site experience to include at least .25 yr. or OR

Minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience of which 2-4 shall be nuclear plant/nuclear systems experience (commercial, military, shipyard) with a SRO license or certification or STA.

Leads personnel to safely and efficiently execute work on-site, organize resources to achieve station goals, demonstrate high level of ownership for their responsibilities, persists through adversity, and follows through with commitments.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to resolve conflict with constructive solutions

Ability to communicate to all levels of management across station organizations

Acts with bias for action to challenge and correct behaviors and promote high standards of performance. Demonstrate high integrity, safety, professionalism, and appropriate behavior driven results.

Proactively communicates information and decisions to personnel and station leaders in a manner that is honest, direct, and meaningful.

Demonstrates and promotes a clear bias for action to resolve issues while exhibiting sound judgment and conservative decision making.

Maintains appropriate oversight of personnel and acts promptly to provide direction when necessary on-site or at remote locations.

Demonstrated ability to understand a wide variety of topics and be sufficiently intrusive to ensure all work items under their area of responsibility are produced with the highest of quality including technical accuracy.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Engineering, Engineering Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education: Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr. On site experience to include .25 yr.

Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
