NiSource Political Affairs Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Manage NiSource Political Action Committee (NiPAC). Maximize visibility and effectiveness of the NiPAC outreach efforts, and promote programs for employee political involvement. Ensure compliance with federal and state election, campaign, lobby disclosure, and gift laws by tracking regulations and filing all required reports. Manager the disclosure of NiSource political expenditures. Assist the Director, Federal Government Affairs, on monitoring, analyzing and reporting on relevant public policy issues and trends.Position is located in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Director of Federal Government Affairs.Responsibilities:PAC Management Manage NiPAC to support state and federal governmental affairs activities Develop solicitation strategies, implement plans, and lead solicitation campaigns that enlist executive management support to ensure funding is available to meet corporation business objectives Manage PAC communications to provide eligible employees with consistent and timely information convening PAC and political activities, including a members-only PAC website and monthly newsletter Develop and implement policies to ensure consistency of contribution criteria, solicitation methods, and recognition criteria Coordinate activities of NiPAC Executive and Leadership Committees Manage and track federal PAC contributions, requests, and disbursements Manage reports and filings to ensure compliance with all state and Federal Election Commission regulations Plan and coordinate appreciation and recognition and ensure that level of recognition is within limits prescribed by state and federal law Coordinate with the NiSource Legal department to ensure legal compliance in all activities involving the PACsPolitical Affairs Plan special political events for employees to encourage interest and participation in the political process Develop and manage corporate Get Out the Vote efforts Work with NiSource tax department on disclosure of lobbying expense and political expenditures File all required reports related to lobby and gift disclosure. Establish and maintain records necessary to support such reports Prepare, maintain and update biographical information and footprint statistics for Members in NiSource service territory Monitor, analyze and report on certain public policy issues to internal subject matter experts as directed by the Director of Federal AffairsRequirements: Bachelors degree or equivalent 2+ years of experience in public affairs or political affairs Experience with political action committees required Ability to work in demanding, priority driven office environment, often working simultaneously on multiple tasks Ability to work with high degree of independence within the scope of assigned responsibilities Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Keen attention to detail and deadlines Ability to speak before internal and external audiences Ability to draft and edit employee communications Internet knowledge/research proficiency Competency in Excel required Understanding of political action committee work High degree of flexibility in work schedule and in project prioritization and execution
