National Grid is hiring a Revenue & Operations Manager in our Customer Connections Team based in Warwick working on a hybrid basis.

About the role

The Revenue and Operations Manager is accountable for a team of Revenue Analysts and accountable for ensuring that customers are charged correctly at every stage of their journey by owning and applying the complex charging calculations; billing; and securities processes. This role has a significant influence on customer satisfaction and the outcomes of the associated financial incentives.

The role provides a focus point for process assurance and, where necessary, accountable for identifying and progressing process improvements to improve efficiency and / or accuracy. They will be responsible for establishing and executing a charging digital strategy to automate routine charging tasks.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for the line management, recruitment and performance of a team of 6 team members.

  • Manage the end-to-end processes to accurately recover charges worth £2.0 billion per annum.

  • Accountable for the development and execution of a digital strategy to automate Electricity Transmission’s (ET) charging activities.

  • Accountable for ensuring the consistent implementation of charging policy across ET.

  • Accountable for ensuring all charges and indemnities for electricity connections, modifications, diversions, and applications cover our costs; and are raised in accordance with the contracted terms, charging policy, and governance framework.

  • Responsible for determining contractual terms where there is no set precedent, and the codes are ambiguous.

  • Accountable for resolving charging disputes including making decisions in the interest of ET and consumers.

  • Accountable for establishing and maintaining effective working arrangements with the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to enable them to effectively manage the expectations of our customers, providing timely and accurate information throughout the lifetime of a project or contract, ensuring we avoid disputes.

  • Accountable for the annual charge setting process on behalf of ET, including the publication of our Charging Methodology statement and our refresh of Application Fee rates.

What you'll need

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a numerate / engineering subject

  • Highly competent in numerical analysis and being able to direct others in their own analysis

  • Understanding of the frameworks that give force to the charging arrangements.

  • Experience of working in a commercially focused role.

  • Extensive experience of creating sound working relationships with internal & external customers/stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of running parallel processes with inputs from a wide range of parties.

  • Experience of leading and influencing within multidiscipline virtual teams.

  • Experience of process improvement initiatives / methodologies.

  • Salary of £65,000 - £75,000 dependent on capability

  • Annual Performance Based Bonus up to 15% of your base salary
