National Grid is hiring a PMO Lead as part of our IT & Digital Function. This position can be located in Warwick or London.

Job Purpose

To support the provision of Product and Platform office and expertise to the UK ITET team, providing a holistic view, controlling costs, growing capability, and stability. This role is part of a relatively new team that aims to develop specialized business partners responsible for different functions of the business. The goal is to enhance the team's capabilities and establish dedicated resources to effectively manage and support various aspects of the organization

What you'll do

  • Portfolio, programme, and project support :

  • Provide support and guidance on management processes, tools, and techniques.

  • Support control boards, assurance teams, and review meetings.

  • Provide support services and recommend project control solutions.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Assure that quality objectives are met through assessments and reviews.

  • Conduct assessments, analyze records, and propose corrective actions.

  • Provide guidance on organizational standards.

  • Feasibility Assessment (Change Analysis):

  • Evaluate and describe business change options for feasibility and alignment.

  • Select assessment approaches, engage stakeholders, and support business case preparation.

  • Resourcing :

  • Support resourcing and recruitment activities.

  • Use tools for planning, scheduling, and tracking resources.

  • Provide guidance on resource management.

  • Risk Management:

  • Implement organization-wide risk management processes and procedures.

  • Undertake risk management activities and maintain documentation.

  • Business Intelligence:

  • Develop and deliver management information for decision-making.

  • Support business intelligence needs and optimize capabilities.

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management :

  • Influence stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions.

  • Manage issues, implement engagement plans, and enhance relationships.

About you

  • Possess industry certifications such as Managing Successful Programmes, Prince 2, and Agile Project Management.

  • Have a deep understanding of the various roles performed by a PSO, enabling effective skills matching and development planning.

  • Demonstrate a strong background in process and performance improvement, leveraging data for informed decision-making.

  • Have experience in matrix management of resources.

  • Proficient in using Project planning tools like MS Project or Project Online.

  • Have a track record of working with senior stakeholders, effectively understanding their requirements and setting clear expectations.

  • Skilled in designing career development plans to attract and retain permanent resources in a specialized environment, fostering technical capability and long-term stability within the PMO structure.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £50,000 – £60,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
