National Grid Network Performance Manager in Warwick, United Kingdom

As Network Performance Manager you’ll provide leadership and strategic direction to a Power System team’s managers’ to ensure an efficient and effective management of the operability, power quality and dynamic performance of NGET’s transmission network. You’ll evaluate and assess solutions, including reinforcement options, to manage the network, recommending preferred operability solutions.

You’ll utilise the team’s Power System specialist knowledge to anticipate the technical considerations, challenges and required solutions for the Electricity Transmission network (and the whole system).

Driving efficiency improvements in the Network Planning process, you’ll introduce new approaches, scoping activities and controls that align with specific NGET outcomes and regulatory agreements, ensuring full compliance of the England and Wales transmission system. You’ll also represent NGET across the industry in all areas related to power quality and dynamic system performance.

This role is based out of our offices in Warwick and can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you'll need

With proven leadership capability of a technical team, a track record demonstrating consultative, facilitation and decision-making skills, and the ability to build positive relationships at a senior level, you’ll have a clear understanding of National Grid’s business objectives and its obligations to wider industry participants and regulatory authorities.

You’ll have a good understanding of power quality and dynamic performance issues and the requirements of the England and Wales electricity transmission network, as well as an understanding of cost benefit analysis and its use to develop investment cases. You’ll also have experience of setting and controlling scopes of technical work that lead to clearly defined strategic & business outcomes.

Experience of working with external regulatory bodies, relevant industry technical groups, equipment suppliers and customers is key as is the ability to embrace and drive change for the benefit of NGET, using your technical expertise to target opportunities, and be able to create stakeholder advocation through sound strategy.
