National Grid HR Business Partner in Warwick, United Kingdom

About the role:

An internal move has created a fantastic opportunity for a CIPD qualified HR Business Partner to join our Asset Operations division within National Grid Electricity Transmission (c.1,600 FTE nationally).

Working collaboratively with the business and People function, business partnering a highly unionised, geographically dispersed, field and office-based workforce within a large corporate, matrix business, you’ll develop and implement an integrated People Plan. A highly visible and crucial role, within our talented, well-respected, collaborative HR team, you’ll be the go-to for all things employee relations and case management through to talent management & succession, whilst providing ongoing coaching and development to leaders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver on the FY24 plan, supporting the stand up of a new leadership team, development of a pay framework, and implementation of talent management and succession activities.

  • Primary point of contact in relation to people priorities for all levels of management for all matters related to Asset Operations colleagues.

  • Ensure the HR agenda is implemented effectively, working closely with Reward and Recruitment teams i.e. resourcing strategy, talent management, compensation and benefits, performance management.

  • Provide technical HR support to design initiatives to ensure Asset Operations is structured appropriately and effectively.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Employee Relations (ER) team to ensure effective HR solutions are delivered.

  • Analyse performance metrics and data, performance, sickness retention issues and develop solutions.

About you:

You’re a fully CIPD qualified HR business partner, with significant expertise in a unionised environment, and strong employee relations experience. You enjoy developing successful, long-lasting business relationships / partnerships, with the ability to think and plan for the medium-term whilst managing the short-term - able to translate strategy into operational HR solutions. In person you’re a team-player, who thrives in a fast-paced role, can manage multiple priorities with exceptional facilitation skills. You’ll have 1 direct report, therefore management experience would also be beneficial.

Salary: up to £64,000 - dependant on experience

Further information:

This role is based at our Warwick office, with hybrid working. You’ll need to work closely with our colleagues in the field, therefore there will be some national travel involved. Your working week is likely to be 1 day in the field, 2 days in Warwick, and 2 days from home.
