National Grid Fixed Asset Accounting Manager in Warwick, United Kingdom

Managing a team of 5-12 Capital Accountants and Assistant Accountants based onshore and offshore, you’ll support the team to provide comprehensive financial support, drive the accurate financial performance and maximise insight and understanding across the UK wide business.

As a Fixed Asset Accounting Manager, you will lead on monthly accounting cycles for the team, group reporting deliverables, manage stakeholder meetings and deliverables, lead on internal/external & corporate audit, provide insight into performance and partner with the business area to drive value and change.

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll be the contact for maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, relevant General Ledger accounts and providing management reporting to stakeholders including Finance Business Partners.

  • Adherence to National Grid accounting policies and control framework.

  • Ensuring the integrity of data flows from interfaced systems, transaction processing, month end close activities, balance sheet and other reconciliations, chart of account maintenance.

  • Drive control rationalisation and leveraging understanding of the processes to identify and embed opportunities for automation using technology (e.g., RPA, continuous controls monitoring)

  • This role will also include the production and review of management information relating to capex including actuals, budget and forecasts along with variance analysis and insights.

  • Being the lead in the fixed asset accounting space, you will also be seen as a key SME, providing guidance and challenge as part of the ongoing process improvement and transformation initiatives.

  • Work with 1st line control owners and performers when control remediation is required. Work closely with 1st line control owners to ensure all deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.

  • You will lead on elements of strategic change within the Business Services team and landscape.

What You’ll Have

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post qualified experience.

  • You have significant experience in reporting financial information, as well as planning, forecasting, and budgeting across a variety of projects.

  • You’ve interacted and managed a broad range of stakeholders and have experience working across multiple teams to deliver objectives and commercial decisions with relevant financial information.

  • you’re comfortable leading and working as part of a virtual team and are prepared to travel to sites on an adhoc basis.

  • Strong experience in MS Excel and SAP is key to the role.

  • Good understanding of core financial processes.

  • Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own workload, to time and desired levels of quality.

  • Pragmatic can adapt quickly to a changing environment and can adapt approaches and utilise and align skills to different customer groups.

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and collaboration skills.

  • Strong results orientation.

What You'll Get

Up to £67,000 dependent on experience.
