National Grid is hiring a Customer Content & Channel Specialist for our Customer Connections department in our Warwick Head Office.

About the role

Within Customer Connections, the Customer Strategy & Insight Team is responsible for the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) strategic approach to customers, ensuring forward looking approaches to identifying and meeting the needs of all customer types.

The Customer Content & Channel specialist will work closely with colleagues across NGET to create external content that supports engagement, promotes success stories, and provides greater clarity around Customer Connections (CC) & National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) role and day-to-day activities. The role will help ensure that all externally-facing material is of the right quality and aligns with NGET’s brand image.

What you'll do

  • Support the Customer Strategy and Insight Team Manager to developing short- and long-term initiatives, aligned to content and channels, in line with the NGET Customer Strategy, designed to improve NGET customer service.

  • Work closely with Corporate Affairs, ensuring alignment with NGET wide strategy & customer/industry liaison.

  • Work closely with CC Data & Digital team, ensuring consistent narratives across externally facing digital products.

  • Along with the Customer Strategy & Insight Manager, advising colleagues on the right channels to use for their specific external engagement objectives and target audience.

  • Owning the rolling 12-month topic content plan to support the Electricity Transmission (ET) Customer Connections engagement plan

  • Be a subject matter expert on content and channels in support of colleagues across Customer Connections.

  • Copywriting and/or proof-reading of externally-facing materials for a range of topics across Customer Connections and for a range of channels, in support of colleague-led engagement. This could include, but may not be limited to:

Presentations for webinars, workshops, etc

Reports and consultations for external publication

Digital content for web (working with the Group Strategy Digital team)

Social media content (working with the Group Strategy Digital team)

Online surveys (working with the Group Strategy Digital team)

Along with the Customer Strategy & Insight Manager, owning the customer content on the Electricity Transmission (ET) website and (through ongoing and regular reviews, including an annual audit) ensuring that content across all customer pages is accurate, up to date, relevant, appropriate and consistent.

About you

  • Impeccable written communication skills

  • A good understanding of and a passion for the energy industry and NGET’s role in it

  • Practical experience of preparing tailored articles, reports and presentations to engage relevant audiences

  • Excellent copywriting skills.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Excellent copywriting skills.

  • Advanced use of PowerPoint is essential.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Experience of working with third-party agencies.

  • Ideally, experience in managing web content management systems (CMS) and research surveys (although support will be provided)

  • Degree or equivalent experience is required.

  • Salary of £46,000 - £54,000 dependent on capability.
