National Grid Lead Engineer, Gas Asset Engineering in Waltham, Massachusetts

Are you an experience engineer with a solid background in gas distribution networks? Do you have high expertise is gas asset engineering and field experience? If so, then keep reading because we are seeking a LEAD ENGINEER for our Gas Engineering Team. This position is located in Waltham, Massachusetts. It's an in the field (30%) in the office (70%) type of role. Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.

Job Purpose

Provide engineering decision-making abilities for the development and maintenance of the Gas Distribution network. Ensures all proper materials are available and all federal state and local codes are adhered to. This is a highly visible role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Interface externally with major industrial and commercial customers, as well as major residential developers, local inspection and approval authorities, as well as other external bodies.

  • Responsible for providing clear and concise construction standards, code compliant procedures, safe work methods and cost-effective materials and equipment for enterprise-wide application.

  • Perform new material evaluation and acceptance to provide enterprise-wide support in implementation of best practices, consolidation of inventory, reduction in material cost and enhance long term system integrity of gas network.

  • Provide effective and timely technical support to the gas operations organizations and process owners in implementation of incident investigation and process audits recommendations, by visiting each operating area regularly.

  • Provide technical support to Procurement, Inventory Management and MEQIP organization in bid evaluation, inventory value reduction effort and standardization of materials across the enterprise.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Stakeholder Management experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfortable giving clear direction and guidance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, and at least 5 years of engineering experience are strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with federal, state and local gas distribution and transmission codes and standards are required

  • Familiarity with ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API and various industry standards are required.

  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.

More Information

Salary : $130,000 - $153,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
