What you'll do

The Portfolio Delivery Manager is a key leadership position within the US Electric IT team with the overall ownership to establish the strategy and its delivery for our transformational Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Work Management Systems (WMS) and Geospatial Information System (GIS) investments. As we invest in these transformational technologies, moving away from legacy and piecemeal solutions, this role will ensure we implement, maintain, and deliver on an effective technology strategy with a transparent outcome driven roadmap to meet the needs of our employees and customers driving significant value across our US Electric Business Unit.

This role will work closely with key New York and New England business stakeholders to build a cohesive strategy & vision, drive the development and delivery of the portfolio for measurable outcomes, own the financial planning & total cost of ownership for the product family & manage multi-disciplinary delivery team.

The successful candidate will be a positive disrupter who will lead by example, to effectively use frontier technology, re-imagine business processes and mature agile ways of working to accelerate time to use of solutions and outcomes.   • Partner with senior leaders to define and align business and product vision and strategy

  • Successfully transition our US Electric Organization from legacy piecemeal technologies to industry leading enterprise solutions in a way to delivers effectively for the users

  • Find the right mix of COTS and in-house build solutions to deliver the right solution at the right time to ensure long-term business value, security and reliability

  • Define and communicate an effective vision for digitalised work execution, its value and benefit, throughout the organisation and with our stakeholders to create a collaborative and informed end user

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of product managers with indirect responsibility for additional cross-functional team members

  • Lead cross-functional teams in planning, prioritization, and product delivery

  • Define and measure business impact, and monitor performance of initiatives and communicate performance metrics to key stakeholders

  • Leverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results

About you

  • A degree directly related to or transferable to digital delivery and / or the energy system more broadly

  • Comfortable in challenging the ‘status quo’ and driving change at an enterprise level

  • Demonstrable capability to manage a critical programme / portfolio of digital products to transform business operations

  • Experience successfully leading and improving teams that are highly effective both in terms of impact and team culture

  • Ability to create a genuine industry leading strategic vision for a critical portfolio and be able to turn that in to tangible and achievable deliverables with a track-record for exceeding expectations

  • Ability to get to the root of the problem quickly, develop frontier solutions in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and communicate that effectively to all levels within the organisations and beyond

  • Genuinely strong communication skills with an ability to successfully navigate a complex organization and generate and maintain buy-in for ideas and plans

  • Strong technical background, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, designers, UX, and data science

  • Demonstrable experience successfully implementing enterprise technology change within a complex organization is a must (experience of IBM Maximo and ESRI ArcGIS is desirable)

  • Having previous product development and implementation experience within a US energy utility would be hugely valuable

  • Understanding the US (electricity and natural gas) sector, regulatory/technology/business issues impacting the industry and future trends is a must and a previous role in this space would be advantageous

  • Demonstrate a genuinely entrepreneurial mind-set, with a clear focus on action and the ability to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing environments whilst continuing to deliver against the organisational vision

Brooklyn, NY $190,000 - $224,000 a year

Waltham, MA $178,000 - $209,000 a year

Syracuse, NY $152,000 - $179,000 a year

Salary is commensurate with experience and location

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
