Senior Federal Documentation Quality Consultant

Job Description:

As a Senior Federal Documentation Quality Consultant, you will conduct documentation reviews for overall quality and adherence to internal best practices and federal compliance standards, including Section 508, across elements such as organization, terminology, formatting and visuals. You will study, understand and practice emerging industry and government trends and best practices for technical documentation and propose new or revised best practices and standards for producing technical documentation. You will also author technical documentation for internal projects, such as user and training manuals. You will use your expertise to collaborate with leadership to develop and document standards, processes and tools for technical documentation that meet or exceed federal documentation compliance standards. You will educate and mentor stakeholders on standards, processes and tools for federal documentation and provide expertise to resolve documentation issues and questions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:

  • At least 2 years Compliance, regulatory affairs and/or quality management work experience

  • At least 6 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education, including:

  • At least 2 years Section 508 compliance experience

  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position

  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Communications, English or related field, or equivalent, relevant work experience

  • At least 2 years of Technical documentation work experience using federal government standards and guidelines

  • 1 year of Federal experience preferred

  • 1 year of Commonlook software experience a plus


  • Willing to travel up to 10%

  • Must reside in or willing to relocate to the Arlington, VA area or in a virtually approved city

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
