Higher Education Associate Software Developer in Sri Lanka

Overall Responsibilities:

Ensures that code artifacts produced are of the highest quality, conforming to set or agreed upon standard.

Follows the Pearson processes, agile practices and motivates his/her team members to do so.

Escalates and communicates issues, risks and concerns to leads or managers.

Provides input on estimates and achieve on-time Delivery.

Aligns self to organisational goals.

Accepts project delivery responsibilities and demonstrate accountability to leadership.

Maintains a sense of individuality in thinking and decision making.

Adhere to professional ethical practices of Pearson.

Is a professional in work aspects as well as conduct with other individuals.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Individual should possess a Bachelors degree in Computing or Information Technology/Management. Individuals who have a Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a specialization in the Engineering field will also be considered. Minimum two (2) years of experience in software engineering and design. All candidates will be technically evaluated at the time of hiring on their software engineering aptitude.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact with prompt and professionalism to the teams across different time zones.

Ability to work with new development and maintenance teams and contribute gathered knowledge when requested to do so.

Desirable Experience or Knowledge on the following areas:

Object Oriented Concepts

System Analysis and Design

Web Application Development

Basic Experience or Knowledge on the following areas:

UML

Unit Testing

Architectural and Design Patterns

Database Technologies

Java Fundamentals

J2EE/JEE Platform

HTML, Javascript, CSS

JavaScript Frameworks (eg:- JQuery / Dojo / easyXDM)

Java Front End Technologies (eg:- Servlets / JSP / JSTL / JSF)

Apache Struts

HTTP Web Services (eg:- SOAP / REST)

EJB 3

Spring Framework

Oracle, MSSQL & other Database Technologies

Unit testing & test automation frameworks (eg:- JUnit / Selenium)

Hands on experience in one or more web/application servers. e.g.: WebSphere, WebLogic, GlassFish, JBoss etc.
