National Grid Senior Strategy Analyst - Infrastructure in United Kingdom

As we build the projects that will make the energy transition happen, we’re looking for a brilliant Senior Strategy Analyst to join National Grid’s Strategic Infrastructure business unit.

The Strategic Infrastructure business unit is just over a year old and is the growth engine for future transmission infrastructure investment. It is responsible for delivering 17 projects set out in the ASTI framework, plus other new infrastructure needed to get the UK to Net Zero by 2050.

Within this team, the Senior Strategy Analyst is a key role that will see you working on important aspects of strategy and business planning like our future investment portfolio strategy, our operating model and our sustainability strategy.

This role is based at our Warwick office which has free onsite parking and our London office is available too. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

About You

• A background in management consultancy or in-house strategy is preferred but not essential. Experience and a commercial understanding of any of the following areas is a plus: Energy; Infrastructure; Government and Regulation; Sustainability; Engineering.

• You have studied to degree level, and a driving licence is desirable but not essential.

What You'll Do

The Senior Strategy Analyst is an important role within the Strategic Infrastructure business unit at National Grid and offers an outstanding opportunity to help shape a strategy that has very real implications for the UK’s energy system.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of strategic projects including but not limited to:

• Working with project development teams to help shape our portfolio strategy for 'how' we should develop infrastructure to meet the needs of the current network plan, whilst influencing future network planning decisions

• Engaging with colleagues across the business and externally to analyse how our sustainability strategy, innovation strategy and digital strategy can come together to help us build transmission infrastructure in a completely new way

• Assessing our operating model and making recommendations to ensure it remains fit for the future as we scale our organisation to proactively contribute to a deliverable energy transition

The primary activities that we would expect you to excel at are:

• Analysing and solving complex business problems using strategic frameworks

• Qualitative & quantitative research and analysis to support decision making

• Understanding our commercial and competitive environment, and developing structured and insightful recommendations

• Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to help build consensus and generate buy-in for new ideas

• Creating high quality communications in briefing paper or slide form, and presenting these to senior audiences to share insights and help shape strategic decision making.

What You'll Get

A competitive starting salary between £55,000 – £65,000 dependent on capability.
