National Grid Project Supervisor in United Kingdom

Job Purpose

Location: Drax/East Yorkshire

4 - 5 times a week on site

To ensure that the site based construction activities are efficiently managed in accordance with National Grid policies and procedures. To enact the role of Engineers Representative on behalf of the client across multiple construction sites

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging their duties under the CDM regulations, not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction based activities.

  • Ensure delivery of regular and effective site safety and quality walks, weekly coordination meetings with all contractors on site. Allied to this maintaining a site log or diary.

  • Ensuring that access to the site is controlled.

  • Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

  • Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities, promptly advising the Project Engineer of any programme risks.

  • Be familiar with industry construction standards and will be expected to inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship.

  • Undertake the role of Engineers representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation (where appropriate).

  • Issue site instructions following agreement from the Project Engineer and authenticate any record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor. (Familiarity with standard contract terms and conditions i.e. FIDIC, BEAMA and NEC is desirable).

  • Assist National Grid's Commissioning Engineer to review and confirm that the PC Commissioning programme is acceptable from a delivery perspective.

About you

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in engineering/construction discipline

  • NEBOSH or IOSH (essential

  • Degree or Chartered Status (Desirable)

  • Valid Current UK Driving License (Desirable)

  • Excellent leadership, influencing/negotiating, customer orientation and communication skills.

  • Ability to support /communicate and effectively.

  • Develop working relationships with staff at all levels.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £45,521 - £57,000 dependent on capability.
