£41,145 to 45,244 pa starting salary including allowances + benefits package + Company Vehicle with fuel from home to work. As a Mechanical & Electrical Fitter you will be required to live within the Bedfordshire or Hertfordshire areas.

Mechanical and Electrical fitters take on the responsibility of a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment. This includes installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation & repair as well as routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets. Throughout the year there are some requirements for weekend work which overtime will be paid. You’ll also benefit from our industry-leading training at our facilities based in Eakring, Nottinghamshire, a training programme will be provided which will require occasional travel to this site.

The working environment is outdoors, you’ll get to work on complex 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high speed on load tap changers, plus all kinds of ancillary equipment, DC battery systems, air compressors, diesels generators etc. Some of the key skill areas we look for are Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Safety Procedures, Working at Height, Lifting Operations, Panel Wiring, and Fault Finding. It is not necessary that a successful candidate requires all of the above skillsets, but a wide breadth of engineering knowledge would be beneficial. Prior knowledge/experience within the electricity supply industry would be beneficial but not a requirement. On job and Formal training will be available for development purposes.

What are the requirements?

An up to date cv showing us your skills/experience relevant to this role. A minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering or a Level 3 qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering with the relevant fitting skills/experience is required. A Full UK Driving Licence. You can use a computer. Desirable - Substation experienced, IOSH.

Pay and Benefits

• A competitive starting salary from £34,940 to £39,050 pa + £4,500 pa London Allowance + £1,705 pa Seasonal Working Allowance.

• 37 hours average Mon – Fri, the weekends are yours.
