National Grid Commercial Strategy Lead in United Kingdom

About the role

Great Britain's electricity infrastructure is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.

To help drive commercial value for the end consumer and support the effective delivery of our projects.

If you want to decarbonise Europe and lead the way on how this should be done in a cost-effective way across the world, then, apply for this role. We are delivering the key infrastructure needed to re-wire the UK to allow the country to deliver its Net Zero ambition. The incumbent will lead on the implementation of the commercial transformation to ensure SI is set up to overcome challenges and landscape change to enable grids to be developed and built at pace delivering value both for the end consumer and the NG shareholder.

About you

What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who:

  • You can operate independently both internally and externally.

  • You are an experienced project manager keen to apply project management techniques and best practice in a changing commercial environment.

  • You are open to new ideas and new ways of doing things.

  • You are keen to learn and will not be bound by your role profile in driving commercial value. An understanding of the regulatory environment that National Grid operates in would be desirable, as would a good understanding of procurement, project management, and analysing and identifying sources of risk.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.

What you'll do

  • Working with the onshore & offshore commercial teams to project manage the implementation of the commercial transformation for Strategic Infrastructure

  • Connect with stakeholders at all levels using a variety of different communication channels and materials to coordinate activities, ensuring successful buy in and implementation.

  • Work with and lead stakeholders (including external Enterprise and JV partners) to implement this strategy

  • Develop holistic view of all commercial activities across the offshore portfolio to ensure an efficient, coordinated approach to negotiations, identification of capabilities and resource deployment.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £58,000 - £75,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
