Description: Shipboard Installation Technician - Copper Cable Termination
Employee will perform shipboard installation efforts of Shipboard Alterations (SA) and Ordnance Alterations (OA) with a primary focus on working with copper cables. The employee will be tasked with performing as a team member performing this work. Tasking will also include the installation of shipboard cabinet modifications (i.e. OA).
The ability to spend the majority of time in a travel status (both domestic and international); work extended hours (overtime) as-required to meet schedule commitments; and possess a SECRET security clearance are required.
Experience with shipboard installations including:
- Existing cable rip-out and roll-back [including megger testing & cable/connector inspection];
- Cable installation (power and data) installation;
- Copper cable/connector termination;
- Opening/Closing Multi-Cable Transits (MCTs);
- Finalizing installations for space turnover to ship’s force (i.e. cable tagging/banding, final quality assurance inspections and remediation).
Ability to read and understand shipboard mechanical and electrical drawings.
Ability to work in a team environment with overall LM Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leads and Technician Leads directing top level weekly/near term objectives.
Ability to complete certification training and renewals, as required.
Knowledgeable in Mechanical and Electrical installation/modification standards and methodology including NAVSEA STD Items.
Copper cable termination certifications in accordance with DOD-STD-2003/5.
Fiber Optic cable certifications in accordance with MIL-STD-2042 (inspection), MIL-STD-1678-1, MIL-STD-2042, NAVSEA SI , 009-04, and 009-123 (connector fabrication).
Cableway inspections in accordance with DOD-STD-2003.
OSHA Maritime 10 hr Training Course #7615.
Experience with requirements of NAVSEA TS 9090-301 REV G; Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NFPA 306); ESH 40 CFR Hazardous Waste Management; ESH 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Transportation.
