Are you passionate about news? Feeling boxed in by traditional storytelling styles? Want to help build the next generation of news gathering teams? CityNews has an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead our news team in Vancouver. This is a one-year contract position for a maternity leave.

What you will do:

  • Provide editorial leadership, direction and feedback for the CityNews team in Vancouver

  • Lead the transition to streaming first work model and the Vancouver 24/7 streaming channel

  • Lead special projects including breaking news, prime-time specials and election coverage

  • Lead the regional CityNews production team based in Vancouver

  • Collaborate with our OMNI News, RTV and 1130 News Radio teammates in Vancouver and Canada to provide the best content to our viewers

  • Elevate editorial and journalistic standards for the content team

  • Work with operations and engineering teams to continue to innovate our news production model

What you will bring:

  • This is a leadership position. You must have experience managing a TV newsroom and people

  • You have an eye for great content and know what works for digital, radio and broadcast

  • You have experience in leading major national productions

  • You are willing to explore new ideas and approaches to content and production, especially when it comes to streaming and news production

  • You know how to communicate effectively, especially in pressure situations

  • You know how to drive teamwork and know how to influence people without authority

  • You understand Vancouver and what makes it a dynamic part of Canada

Shift: Variable

Length of Contract: 12 Months

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
