Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Content Services Gaming team is looking for talented Software Engineer II to help build the next generation of gaming experiences on Microsoft Start and Smash.gg. You will have opportunities to work with many teams across Edge, Windows, Xbox, Bing and other divisions to develop innovative and exciting solutions for our users and partners. You will be involved in developing code in multiple layers including web UX, service end points, middle tier workflows, and data layers.

Responsibilities

Key to our continued success in this hypercompetitive space is taking enormous volumes of data and turning them into useful, actionable information to drive increased user engagement through great Content Services Gaming features and improvements. We are talking petabytes of data about how searches succeed, how they fail, and how we can improve Content Services and its partners. You will engage very closely with other key partner teams that are dependent on our platform and experiences, to drive end-to-end scenario helping our user growth. This position offers great career-growth potential as well as the impact and visibility across the entire Microsoft Content Services organization. Being at the very core of Content Services engineering, it also offers great exposure to the latest software and hardware technology trends in the search industry.

  • Work with engineers, product managers, designers, and partner teams to deliver a set of features with the right overall design and architecture. 

  • Own and deliver complete features across the development lifecycle, including design, architecture, implementation, testability, debugging, shipping, and servicing. 

  • Write clean, well-thought-out code with an emphasis on quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, React, HTML, or CSS

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ year of experience owning feature design, development, releasing and sustaining.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.

  • Familiarity with large scale service development, testing and deployment

  • A demonstrated ability to ship high-quality software on time

  • Proficient communication skills.

  • Ability to work closely and collaborate independently across a feature team.

  • Ability to span across a large number of areas while getting sufficiently deep in new focus areas where necessary

  • Passion for product excellence

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $79,600 - CAD $153,000 per year.
