Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer as part of the data engineering team in Vancouver, Canada, you will grow your skills working on highly scalable systems and latest technologies, processing petabytes of data daily with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Explorer. You will collaborate closely with data science to derive actionable insights and influence our product and growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Extract raw data ingested from apps and services and work with software engineers to define schema contract and quality gates.

  • Transform and model data for efficient analysis and reporting.

  • Monitor data to ensure it meets availability, reliability and performance goals.

  • Collaborate with data science to derive actionable insights and present to product and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of big data experience with Apache Spark.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in any of the following languages or equivalent language: Scala, C#, Java, Python, Rust.

  • Experience with Azure cloud.

  • Experience in other big data technologies.

  • Data driven, customer focused, and organized.

  • Experience operationalizing and supporting services.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.
