Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia

OneDrive is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about web development and leading a small dedicated team. In this role you will have an opportunity to create delightful and highly performant OneDrive experiences for photos and document collaboration which will be exposed across the Microsoft’s suite of products. This will involve both the development of features along with providing guidance to the rest of the team.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Development of major features in a multi-faceted application.

  • Developing engineering best practices and mentoring other engineers.

  • Collaborate with project managers, data scientists, designers and other engineers to gather requirements and inform your feature design.

  • Focus on web code through HTML & CSS but should be able to work with services as well.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge with the latest HTML 5 and CSS 3 rules and be able to comfortably utilize these features. The product includes both the web application and a Node server used to generate required pages.

  • Take part in code reviews.

  • Balance between performance, quality, and speed of development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with languages including, but not limited to, HTML 5 or CSS 3

  • o OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years' experience with React.

  • 3+ years' experience in debugging.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating with cloud services.

  • Experience resolving build infrastructure issues.

  • Knowledge of Azure services and managing deployments.

  • Experience handling media data such as images or videos.

  • Basic understanding of offline browser storage techniques.

  • Passion for crafting elegant code.

  • Amateur photographer / fan of photography / photos enthusiast.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $104,000 - CAD $193,200 per year.
