Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer – Continuous Integration - Xbox Graphics in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Xbox Graphics team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Continuous Integration - Xbox Graphics team mate to create and maintain state-of-the-art continuous integration systems to deliver device drivers and other technologies to our family of gaming customers. In this role you will be responsible for source control, automated build, quality validation, and deployment infrastructure that runs dependably and autonomously. This is a unique position because while some infrastructure already exists, you will have the opportunity to design and deploy new critical systems from the ground up using industry standard technology.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine requirements.

  • Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software developer tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products. Uses open source when possible.

  • Considers and drives comprehensive application of automation within production and deployment of a product. Runs code in simulated or other non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime for products. Defines and develops standardized, repeatable, scalable solutions to guarantee quality.

  • Drives efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility. Creates and assures the presence of visible evidence to demonstrate compliance for products. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the implications of onboarding new technologies following expectations of compliance at Microsoft.

  • Supports other developers using continuous integration systems including but not limited to documenting best practices and instructing others on how to use systems and providing guidance for trouble shooting build or infrastructure problems.

  • Ensures continuous integration systems run reliably within established tolerances with minimal manual human interaction. This will be accomplished in a variety of ways including active and passive monitoring and proactively measuring and improving system performance, reliability, and robustness.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Powershell, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of experience working with continuous integration technologies and systems such as Visual Studio, Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, Git, Perforce, Subversion, CMake, TAEF, or GoogleTest.

  • 4+ years experience developing, testing, and/or deploying device drivers.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security sceenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of experience working with continuous integration technologies and systems including but not limited to Visual Studio, Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins, GitHub, Git, CMake, TAEF, and GoogleTest.

  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience with continuous integrations systems including build, validation, and deployment.

  • Proven track record of creating and maintaining highly reliable mission critical continuous integration systems.

  • Proficient communication/customer interfacing skills and the ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.
