Port of Vancouver Senior Real Estate Specialist (Term) in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Senior Real Estate Specialist (term for a period up to 1 year) performs property management and negotiation functions with an emphasis on marine terminals and major agreements and including acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, rental reviews, lease administration and negotiation, property valuations, inspections and overseeing tenant operations and enforcing compliance with contractual terms. Coordinates and verifies input to property management systems, and performs other related duties as required.
What you do:
Negotiates lease and license agreements, amendments, surrenders, rent reviews, easements and other agreements for the utilization of VFPA property, including property purchases, dispositions and exchanges, in accordance with VFPA policies, guidelines and practices.
Inspects and reports on VFPA properties, tenant improvements, new construction and alterations and VFPA assets with a view to ensure compliance with agreement terms.
Prepares valuation reports and rental proposals. Carries out market rental surveys, commissions and reviews independent appraisal reports. Prepares analysis and submissions to management in support of land transaction and rent review proposals.
Reviews lease/property agreements for completeness and accuracy. Coordinates and verifies input to property management systems.
Provides real estate input into Project and Environmental Review applications.
Collects overdue rental accounts.
Fields real estate inquiries from the public and explores new revenue growth opportunities for VFPA.
Assists with preparation of evidence for litigation proceedings and responds to Access to Information inquiries as required.
Provides information for audits and special examinations conducts research and prepares summary analysis for the Executive and the Board, as required.
What you bring:
An acceptable university degree, preferably in commerce or real estate.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior level in a related commercial real property management environment.
Eligible for a RI or AACI designation.
Strong negotiation, real estate analysis, and leasehold administration skills.

Working environment: Normal office conditions with occasional field inspections of VFPA properties.
