Microsoft Corporation Product Designer II (Teams) in Vancouver, British Columbia

In this Product Designer II (Teams) role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling the Teams Platform, which integrates various software applications and enables developers to create and publish their own integrations. This platform-centric approach ensures that Teams is a central hub for collaboration, providing users with a unified and efficient experience across all their tools and applications.

At the core of this job candidates will identify user centered design patterns, establish scenarios, place designs into user context and create interactions that align to those requirements. Candidates should be able to articulate their thinking using a variety of mediums from information diagrams, and wireframe flows to detailed prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Shape design thinking and frames the problem to prompt productive discussions. Establishes context with key data on competitors, user insights, market pressures, and defines success before exploring solutions. Ensures stakeholder alignment throughout the project. 

  • Create wireframes, journey maps, and other elements to support interaction design. You’ll also participate in product UX improvements by creating interaction models while acting as a liaison between users and products.

  • Clearly communicate and present your work and learnings to peers and managers within your design studio team. You will also communicate user needs to team members and recommend ideas to create a compelling productive narrative.

  • Interacts with engineering for successful design implementation and performs quality audits (QAs) to help them ensure delivery of well crafteddesigns. Demonstrates ability to challenge limitations, negotiate with Engineering, adjust Engineering schedules, find alternatives, and make cases for designs to be implemented a certain way. 

  • Generate and lead ideation solutions for complex design problems (e.g. involving many constraints, needing workarounds, requiring holistic view of interconnected systems) to deliver sophisticated and elegant product design solutions. Utilizes a variety of perspectives when ideating (e.g. experience, technology, user research, business). Synthesizes complex ideation solutions to concise articulation of user wants and subsequent solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

  • 2+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.

Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
