What Is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Director UW Standards & QA, BI, CA is responsible for design and execution of Business Insurance underwriting standards and controls. Audit Function: Under general direction, responsible providing objective, independent, risk-based underwriting quality and control evaluation of Travelers Canada Business Insurance (the business). Travelers Canada Business Insurance includes Select, Middle Market, Specialty and Programs for SPFM, TICC and Dominion Compliance/Controls. Manage & monitor the design and execution of underwriting guidelines and controls for the Travelers Canada Businesses to ensure compliance & alignment with Corporate UW standards and regulatory requirements control. Strong preference for English/French bilingual written and verbal communications capabilities.
What Will You Do?
Audit Function: External Audits: Work with Underwriting Management to determine Audit standards. Solicit Annual Audit Schedule. Track and monitor Audit Schedule throughout the year to ensure timely completion of this control. Ensure that all action points are managed & monitored. Coordinate and manage interface for both internal and external Underwriting Audits: Internal Audit/Enterprise Audit/Corporate Audit Reviews. Internal Sampling Audits: Work with Underwriting Management to determine sampling standards. Self-Assessments SQT/QA: Work with Underwriting Management to establish File Audit (Technical/ Field ) framework, standards & monitor. Monitor throughout the year to ensure timely completion of File Audits /Peer Reviews& ensure that action items are managed. Independent Peer Reviews: Work with Underwriting Management & the Senior Independent Peer Reviewer to determine Independent Peer Review standards and to create a schedule for the completion of an independent Peer Review which will also include re-performance of a select # of our Field/Business Head/CUO Reviews. Oversee the completion of Independent Peer Reviews and report deficiencies back to Underwriting Management accordingly. Ensure that action plans are managed. Aggregation of Self-Assessments, Field, Ops & Independent Peer Reviews. Solicit, track and monitor the completion of the reports. Collate the results, identify trends and work with Underwriting Management to implement improvement plans. Ensure that action items are managed. Monitor aggregated results on a Quarterly basis to ensure overall completion of this control. Serves as point of contact for specific Business Unit, Enterprise and Corporate Audit/Compliance patterns regarding underwriting audit-related issues. Compliance/Controls: Continuous Improvement of Underwriting Controls: Conduct ongoing assessments of all Underwriting controls to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, consistency, as well as utilization of best practices. Implement enhancements as needed and monitor all controls with an emphasis on ownership of these controls by the responsible parties. Work with Underwriting Management to create Authority Letter Templates for each of our various Underwriting positions ensuring adherence to Enterprise and individual product guidelines. Solicit annual updates and maintain file with original signatures/affirmations to make available to independent auditors. Manage the Collaborative Underwriting review Process (CURE).Ensure CURE Schedule is published annually and that all products/business units are scheduled at least annually.
Monitor actions and additional activity. Ensure that there is a consistent and timely framework for the establishment and maintenance of Underwriting Manuals.
Work with Legal and Compliance and Risk Office on regulatory and insurance legal issues
Perform other duties as assigned.

What is a Must Have?
- 5 years business unit specific underwriting experience.
