Port of Vancouver GIS CAD Technician (term up to 1 year) in Vancouver, British Columbia

The GIS CAD Technician provides, for internal and external customers, a variety of spatial data services including drafting, GIS, records maintenance, plotting, scanning and research. The incumbent performs a variety of GIS projects intended to improve access to and quality of spatial data at the Port.

What youdo:

  • Responsible for theregular updating and reconciliation of land inventories in GIS, working withthe Real Estate department to ensure that the information stored in Real Estatesystem is as accurate and up to date as possible.

  • Work on a variety ofGIS projects intended to improve access to and quality of spatial data at thePort. This includes data improvement, Maps on Request functionality, and mobileapplications.

  • Prepare, collect andinput data for various Port systems, including GIS Real Estate and EngineeringDepartment Document Index (EDDI).

  • Prepare a variety ofplans from a wide variety of source material, revising Port mapping asrequired.

  • Assist with ongoingmaintenance and development of the GIS and its applications.

  • Assist with theorganization and maintenance of drawings and records related to Portinfrastructure and assets as required.

  • Carry out researchrelated to historical records.

What you bring:

  • Must have a related two-yearfull-time technical diploma from BCIT or another acceptable diploma.

  • A minimum of 2 years of GISexperience using Esri software and/or drafting experience using Autodesksoftware (preferably AutoCAD Map 3D).

  • Must beproficient with computers, especially the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Self-motivatedindividual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaiseeffectively and positively with both staff and outside contacts.

  • Ability to work independently, accurately and on own initiative tomaintain work output.

  • Mustbe a team player with a "customer service" focus.

  • Goodorganizational skills and flexibility to perform multiple tasks is required.
