Port of Vancouver Financial Analyst - FP&A in Vancouver, British Columbia

This position is responsible for providing financial analyses and business case development of operating projects and capital projects and programs. This position also provides variance analysis to operating departments and programs and assists in the annual development of VFPA’s 5 year financial plan, operating budget and capital plans, and the corporate balanced scorecards.

What you do:

  • Develop financial models andperform financial analyses of projects and programs. Analyse keyperformance indicators and provide financial guidance and inputs todepartments as required to drive improvements in business performance

  • Provideinformation and analysis to support business case development for theorganization’s projects & programs, including consideration of alternativeapproaches, analysis of key risks, and development of mitigations where optimal

  • Develop VFPA’sand subsidiary capital plans and annual operating budget, including thegathering of financial inputs and assumptions. Perform analysis on operatingbudget and reforecasts and provide input to the 5-year business plan

  • Support thedevelopment of VFPA’s annual corporate balanced scorecards, includingefficiency metrics and subsequent progress reporting, and support thedevelopment of VFPA’s annual strategic initiatives and interdepartmentalinitiatives

  • Presentfinancial analysis and business case results to Executive Leadership Team, andsupport presentation materials for Audit Committee and Board of Directorsmeetings

  • Lead,coordinate, propose and implement improvements to work processes for financialplanning and analysis to enable accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness

What you bring:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree with aconcentration in Finance, or another acceptable field

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in management reporting, budgeting andfinancial analysis, including experience with developing business cases andcapital plans

  • Advanced Excel skills required with demonstrated ability to build andmaintain financial models

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, orother similar designations are considered assets

  • Demonstrated aptitude and ability for tactful and diplomatic interaction,along with solid analytical abilities

  • Highly motivated and proactive, with a strong orientation to customerservice and the ability to facilitate information gathering
