The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. Our mandate as a Canada Port Authority, as set out by the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada’s trade objectives, ensuring goods are moved safely and responsibly through the Port of Vancouver. That means providing infrastructure and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic and cargo within the port. It also means we carry out reviews of proposed activities and developments on federal port lands and waters to determine whether a project can go ahead without impacts to the environment and community that cannot be mitigated.

The business intelligence analyst – BTO develops and implements visualizations and dashboards that provide actionable insights to the business. This role uses a blend of creative and technical skills to develop intuitive BI solutions that meet the needs of our users.
What you do:
Collaborate with business units to gatherrequirements, objectives, and KPIs, understand their reporting, data, andproduct needs, and identify data dependencies and relationships
Create appropriate datasets, data flows inMicrosoft data platform based on the defined information architecture
Design and develop and deploy user-friendly,visually appealing BI dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau orPower BI
Build and narrate data stories and guide inbuilding PowerPoint decks
Provide technical expertise regarding theunique features and constraints of Power BI and related technologies, includingbest practice recommendations
Develop documentation, user guides, andtraining materials to support user adoption and customer service. Provideongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of workflows, addressinguser-reported issues
Catalogue, develop and maintain operationalreporting, dashboards and scorecards that track organization key metrics
What youbring:
Bachelor’s degree in data science, computerscience, management information systems, or other relevant discipline
Minimum three (3) years of experience workingwith BI tools or any data-specific role, plus demonstrated experience ofdatabase management, data modeling, business intelligence, SQL querying, datawarehousing, and online analytical processing (OLAP)
Expertise in tools and systems on MS SQLServer BI Stack, including SSRS and TSQL, Power Query, MDX, Power BI, and DAXis required
Experience in configuration of MicrosoftDynamics and Power Platforms is an asset
Experience in configuring, customizing, andextending Dynamics 365 CRM to meet business needs, including workflows, forms,entities, and plugins is an asset
Strong ability to discern trends and patternsfrom large amounts of raw data
Excellent analytic and problem-solving skillswith the ability to take a thoughtful data driven approach to addressingworkforce challenges
Must be able to deal with ambiguity andcreate processes and structure where it does not currently exist
Ability to maintain utmost confidentialityand work with restricted confidential data
Ability to quickly shape data in reportingand analytics solutions and perform testing to assure report and dashboardaccuracy
