What You’ll Be Doing

You will support the distribution of FX, Interest Rates and Commodities within the Mid-Market Solutions Group for CIBC Capital Markets. The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused sales team. The incumbent’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to Commercial Banking / Mid-Market Clients, with a focus on activities that will increase the distribution of FX, IRD and Commodities within the network. The individual must be a trusted partner, providing dedicated support for each district within their geographic coverage area.

Base Salary Range: CAD $100,000 - $120,000

How You’ll Succeed

  • Relationship building - Work closely with MSG Commercial Bankers and other Global Markets colleagues to develop appropriate FX/IRD/Commodities hedging solutions and timely execution to clients. Liaise with other CIBC infrastructure groups (ISSG, Credit, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Client Onboarding, etc) and resources, as appropriate, to deliver transactions. Build a very strong relationship with our Commercial Banking Managers and Leaders.

  • Client engagement - Manage client requests via multiple platforms, and supports senior salespeople. Assist in preparing presentations and reports to clients. This will involve researching, collecting, analyzing and organizing information in a manner that is presentable to clients. Cross-sell other products, depending on product availability and customers’ requirements, rate sensitivity, at all times making sound judgment.

  • Product knowledge - Monitor/track and analyze market activities, economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be in a position to respond to client requests. On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of the Mid-Market Solutions Group. Attend learning sessions held by the Trading Room as required.

Who You Are

  • You have an undergraduate degree (to be considered for Analyst level) or MBA/Masters in a STEM program, Finance, or Commerce. Knowledge of corporate finance theory, financial analysis and valuation techniques

  • You can demonstrate 1 - 3 years of related business experience

  • You act like an owner. A results-oriented self-starter who will show a keen interest in capital markets

  • You know that details matter. Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and execute transactions within tight timeframes with an analytic/systematic approach. Thorough and adaptable. Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous transactions

  • You give meaning to data. Strong written and oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed financial analysis

  • You are technically savvy. Strong technical/computer and analytical skills, including high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
