NSLS-II accelerator control group is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join the team to support the operations of the control systems for NSLS-II accelerators, including the LINAC, the Booster and the Storage Ring. The candidate will also carry out research and development tasks for the improvement of the control systems. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with accelerator physicists, operators and engineers from other technical groups such as the RF group, power supply group, diagnostic group, vacuum group and insertion device group.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
Knowledge of programming in one of the computer languages: C/C++/Python/Java
Software development in LINUX
Knowledge of instrumentation or industrial controls using EPICS
Ability to work with a diverse group of technical team members
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience of analog circuit or digital circuit design
Experience of timing system in accelerator control
Experience of motion control
Demonstrated skills in RTEMS or vxWorks
Knowledge of field-programmable gate array (FPGA)
Knowledge of PLC programming
Knowledge of Matlab
Knowledge of feedback control system design
MS degree in related discipline
The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills he or she brings to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience.
