What will your typical day look like?

As a manager within the Portfolio Management team, you will be responsible for supporting specific portfolios in partnership with Business Relationship Managers to enable our clients. Our collective goal is to elevate our internal IT organization (DT-CA) to strategic advisor levels for our IT clients.

As a manager of the team – you will be responsible for:

  • Elevating the team from “status and data reporting” to delivering “insights and direction” that drives change in the way the firm operates across organizational boundaries.

  • Instill effective constraint management techniques and processes to collectively manage risks/issues, financial health, scope change management and resource allocation along with mentoring and coaching

  • Continuing to elevate the DT - CA group to be strategic partners and advisors to our revenue driving and enabling area clients through the development of deep relationships across all levels of our organization.

  • Developing, supporting, and driving the team’s strategy in alignment with broader strategic goals and direction

As a Portfolio Manager - you will be responsible for:

  • Enabling impactful client demands to come to life through support of the demand lifecycle

  • Play an advisory liaison role between client and technology teams

  • Participate in meetings with business clients to understand upcoming initiatives

  • Collaborate with technology teams to determine design, selection and estimation of the proposed solutions

  • Support the development of business cases for complex projects

  • Deriving and providing stakeholders with insights, analysis, and regular updates on all aspects of their portfolio.

  • Managing and providing oversight on portfolio and project constraints including risks/issues, financial health, scope change management and resource allocation

  • Supporting the development of a technology strategy and, technology future state to meet the needs of the business

  • Developing a deep understanding of service/business group strategies to support and drive priorities within the portfolio

  • Transitioning demands to the execution teams, monitor progress and

  • Communicating with various leaders and groups across Deloitte’s technology and business organizations in the capacity of a trusted advisor.

  • Driving conciseness around data maintenance within our core systems

About the team

The Planning and Project Services (PPS) team within the Deloitte Technology - Canada (DT-CA) requires a Manager within the Portfolio Management team to collaborate closely with various leaders across Deloitte’s external and internal business organizations as a trusted advisor, assisting in the advancement of the Business Relationship Management team within the firm. The PPS office provides leadership in the design, development, and execution of technology strategy to ensure business satisfaction and overall organizational growth. The Portfolio Management (PFM) team is part of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) team that is comprised of Business Architects, Portfolio Managers and Business Relationship Managers.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Experience

  • A university degree in business, information technology, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years working on technology strategy, managing projects, business analysis and leading work streams focused on enabling a business strategy

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Portfolio Management and/or Project Management or related role (e.g., managing and prioritizing initiatives to implement business strategy)

  • Experience with initiating projects, project intake and project gating processes

  • Experience collaborating with and influencing senior management, including C level executives

  • The ability to work closely with both business and technical resources at all levels

Technical

  • A broad understanding of technology at a generalist level

  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word

  • In-depth experience with ServiceNow

  • Analytical experience with data tools (Power BI preferred)

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A collaborator, motivated and innovative Experience working within a matrix organization

  • Strong influencing skills and effective consensus building skills

  • Strong Project Management and Business Analysis skills

  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and critical thinking skills

  • Proven track record with handling, analyzing, and managing complex and high volume of data

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
