What will your typical day look like?

The Senior Associate will be responsible for data collection and preservation, compiling, normalizing, and analyzing electronic data for investigation and litigation purposes. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and preserving digital evidence from a wide range of digital data sources (computers, mobile phones, data storage media, cloud platforms, etc.)

  • Recovering and analyzing electronically stored information,

  • Participating in financial and computer fraud investigations, and

  • Supporting in communicating and reporting applied procedures and analysis results.

  • Applying and maintaining evidence and case management workflows

  • Assist in computer forensic lab infrastructure maintenance

  • Development of junior and off-shore staff

The Computer Forensic team members work closely with forensic accountants, lawyers, litigation support teams, document review teams, clients, and investigators with a view to producing analysis, expertise, and advice in support of investigations and litigation matters. This is not a back office role, but rather a position in which you will enter direct and frequent communication with all levels of stakeholders on engagements.

Given the nature of the work involved, a flexible work schedule and availability to travel inside and outside Canada are essential for all individuals joining the Computer Forensic team. Candidates should also be able to obtain a "secret" level II security clearance from the Canadian government, as well as a U.S. work visa.

Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French would be an asset). They should also have information security experience (an asset), together with a degree from a recognized university or College in any of the following disciplines (or equivalent):

  • Computer science

  • Computer engineering

  • Information technology

  • Cybersecurity

  • Cyber investigations

About the team

The Computer Forensics team is growing a national practice dealing with fraud investigations, technology abuses, cyber-crime, cyber-breach, workplace investigations, and litigation support offering a complete range of client services pertaining to computer forensics and investigations. Computer Forensic engagements include complex domestic and international investigations pertaining to litigation, corporate fraud, class action lawsuits, cyber incidents, and regulatory matters, to name but a few. You'll have an opportunity to develop your skills in these areas, in addition to taking part in national and international projects. The team works with industry-leading technologies and leverages a global oneDeloitte team to provide creative and innovate solutions to complex engagements. The team has strong leadership and works closely together sharing knowledge and helping each other learn and excel!

Deloitte's Forensic services professionals identify and resolve various types of corporate disputes and irregularities. We also carry out analyses, provide opinions and draft clear, logical reports.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • 2-3 years of experience and relevant education

  • Technical knowledge of computer components, networks, and cloud services

  • Litigation support and technological investigations experience

  • Experienced with forensic tools (EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, X-Ways, Magnet Axiom, Oxygen, etc.)

Furthermore, the ideal candidate possesses the following abilities:

  • Efficient communicator both verbally and in writing

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Customer service experience in a professional environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team

  • Keeping abreast of current and developing technologies

  • Ability to be self-sufficient when working remotely

  • Ability to elaborate innovative solutions

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively inside and outside of Canada as required

Total Rewards

The salary range for the Analyst position is $46,000 - $86,000 and $58,000 - $106,000 for the Senior Associate position, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
