Job Description:

Delivers technician training across Toronto Water sections and consults with the Supervisor Training and Talent Development Consultants to constantly improve training curriculum and service delivery.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implements and delivers/facilitates training programs and testing standards. Assists with the development of technician courses and resource materials.

  • Delivers specialized expertise related to a function or technician skill to provide Toronto Water with "subject Matter expertise".

  • Assesses and evaluates participants' skills, knowledge and performance. Monitors on- the-job training programs. Collaborates with supervisory staff to ensure technical staff completes required training to meet Ministry standards.

  • Collects data on training evaluations and performance measurement tools. Applies criteria for selection of candidates for training. Makes recommendations for candidates to enter/remain in programs and participates in the selection process.

  • Participates in labour relations matters as they relate to Toronto Water training initiatives (i.e. operator certification, apprenticeship programs, etc.) and delivery of training.

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies regarding program specific requirements.

  • Assists the supervisor with the maintenance of a computerized tracking process to track course attendance, course completion, skills level attainments and participant and facilitate feedback.

  • Tracks and monitors records relating to licences and certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Prepares reports on training and skills development and compliance issues.

  • Manages projects related to Workforce Development as assigned.

  • Ensures that the project expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.

Key Qualifications

  1. Experience in training and development including needs assessment, program design, delivery, evaluation and related administration.

  2. Experience utilizing the concepts of continuous improvement and best practiceinitiatives.

  3. Experience with the facilitation/presentation of courses and large groupprocesses.

  4. Experience communicating effectively at various levels within organizations, including verbal, written and presentation skills.

  5. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a high pressure, high volume team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.

  6. Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle forwork.
