The opportunity

Do you have what it takes to make an impact as a Talent Acquisition Specialist?

We currently have an opportunity for a temporary Talent Acquisition Specialist (12 months) to join our team. As the successful candidate you will play an important role in developing attraction strategies and pipelines for the organization’s hiring needs. Working with our dynamic Talent Acquisition team you will bring your experience in hiring best practices and outreach methodologies to create and implement effective hiring programs.

As part of our broader employee engagement work, the Specialist will research hiring best practices and outreach methodologies to create and implement programs that promote MODC’s commitment to be an organization of choice, advancing MODC’s strategic goal of attracting, developing, retaining and engaging a high-performing workforce in support of its values of inclusion, accessibility and accountability.

You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and relationship building techniques to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hiring Managers and employees, including tact and discretion to handle sensitive matters. As an employee of MODC it is expected to model and demonstrate MODC policies, vision, and values in all interactions with external stakeholders and internal staff.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization to ensure MODC recruits and selects the highest quality candidates across the organization.

  • Assist in the design and help develop and execute innovative outreach programs including social media strategies to help build pipelines of qualified and diverse candidates.

  • Effectively engage with top external passive talent to present MODC’s unique employer value proposition, acting as an ambassador for MODC’s employer brand.

  • Act as a key resource in identifying and establishing relationships with schools, alumni groups, employment equity related service providers and other organizations to find and attract applicants of diverse backgrounds.

  • Provide knowledge and guidance to our job posting process to ensure our job postings and job descriptions contain inclusive language and support hiring from diverse and under-represented groups.

  • Responsible for the full recruitment cycle including screening, interview, recommendation through to an offer of prospective employees for employment in collaboration with hiring managers.

  • Contribute to the overall people hiring strategy that provide equal opportunities to all candidates, internal and external and ensure compliance in organizational policies and procedures and legislative guidelines.

  • Participate in recruitment events and represents MODC within the community and nationally.

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration is required.

  • CHRL designation (or working towards) an asset.

  • Five years of recruiting experience with demonstrated ability to recruit remotely in multiple geographies along with varying levels of positions, including at the leadership level.

  • Experience recruiting candidates from the health care, congregate care setting or non-profit field preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with all levels is essential.

  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.

  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with multi-provincial laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
